Position Overview

Our split Digital Organizer/Field Organizer will be pivotal in executing PCUN’s election field goals for the 2024 electoral cycle (August-November 2024). Organizers will work on electing a multicultural, progressive slate of candidates to the Oregon Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives. This position is critical to ensuring the organization’s growth, building genuine relationships with PCUN’s base, and developing the leadership of members and volunteers. The role involves engaging PCUN’s base—farmworkers, Latinx working families/voters, members, supporters, and volunteers—through cultivation and organizing tactics. Key responsibilities include mass mobilization of Latinx voters through phone banking, canvassing, texting programs, and digital organizing.

The Digital Organizer/Field Organizer must attend at least two weekly field organizer canvasses and produce 3-5 content creator deliverables (e.g., social media posts, videos) weekly. Candidates should have experience with social media management and a passion for social justice.

PCUN’s Digital Organizer/Field Organizer must be highly organized, effective communicators, self-motivated, and passionate about social justice. They will be supervised by PCUN’s Field Manager, Alexis Lisandro Guizar-Diaz, and PCUN’s Communication Department.

Job Responsibilities:

●  Support Field Staff in accomplishing PCUN’s voter outreach, registration, and turnout goals.
●  Provide support on logistics for mass phone banks, text banks, and volunteer activities.
●  Cultivate genuine relationships with PCUN’s base through phone and text banking.
●  Actively participate in debriefs and report back daily post-voter outreach events.
●  Maintain a meticulous eye for detail and timely nightly and weekly fieldwork reporting.
●  Keep close counts of voters called and volunteers recruited.
●  Ensure volunteers and supporters are always thanked promptly.
●  Attend mandatory onboarding and other training.
●  Produce 3-5 weekly digital organizing deliverables (e.g., social media posts, videos).  Attend at least two field organizer canvasses per week.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

●  Passionate about farmworker and immigrant rights, social justice, and gender justice.
●  Excellent time management and organizational skills.
●  Bilingual in Spanish and English.
●  Bicultural, with a strong understanding of Oregon’s Latinx community.
●  Experience working on political campaigns.
●  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
●  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and late evenings.
●  Experience with social media content creation.
●  Self-motivated and resourceful, able to work independently and as a team member.
●  Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain genuine relationships.
●  Ability to spend extended periods of time on voter outreach
●  Valid driver’s license

Location: Woodburn, Salem-Keizer: Throughout the campaign, we will mostly do in-person canvases and some virtual phone banks.

Duration: Temporary position (August-November 2024)
Hours: 25-30 hrs (part-time) for the duration of the election cycle. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Compensation: $20-23hr, monthly phone stipend
