  • Safe and welcoming schools
  • Reducing absenteeism
  • Increasing behavioral health services

I have been part of the Woodburn community and school district for the past 36 years and am a proud parent of three Woodburn High School graduates.  Four years ago I settled in Woodburn Senior Estates where I will be enjoying my retirement beginning in June of this year.

During my sons’ time in school I took every opportunity to be involved in their education and our  school community.  I am running for the school board to contribute the experience I have had as a parent and a staff member to help guide our school district during this important time.

Michael Vasquez (He/Him/El) Position 1

I’m running for school board to ensure every child—no matter their background—has access to a quality, equitable education. With deep roots in this community, I’m committed to creating schools that reflect our values: inclusion, opportunity, and accountability.

  • Family Engagement: Build stronger partnerships between schools and parents, especially in Latino and multilingual communities.
  • Safe & Supportive Schools: Prioritize mental health, school safety, and inclusive environments for all students.
  • Academic Excellence for All: Close opportunity gaps by supporting educators and investing in programs that serve the whole child.

I’m a lifelong Woodburn resident and advocate who’s worked closely with diverse communities in Woodburn for over a decade. With a background in education and community organizing, I’ve spent my career amplifying the voices of families—especially Latino families—and pushing for policies that reflect our community’s values.
